Screening and talk with Laida Lertxundi and Anna Manubens to the film series "Screening Room"
Laida Lertxundi:
Vivir para Vivir / Live to Live, 2015, 11 min
"A certain trajectory of being lost is drawn across sparsely populated mountain regions while physical processes from heartbeat to orgasm shape image, sound and colour patterns until the horizon is reached." (LL) "Vivir para Vivir / Live to Live" attempts to render the human body through the means of cinema. Lertxundi uses her own body as resonators that seeks a coenesthetic relationship towards the landscape and its intrinsic things and is measured by it. A sensuous kind of embodied cinema, ending with a blast of colour timed to a recording of an orgasm.
Laida Lertxundi is artist and filmmaker and living in Los Angeles. Her works have been recently shown 2016 at the Hammer Museum, L.A., 2015 Bienal de La Habana, Cuba, 2014 Kunstverein Hamburg and at the Biennale de Lyon. Anna Manubens is an independent producer, curator and writer. She lives between Barcelona and Brussels where she works part-time for Auguste Orts, dedicated to the production of artists’ films. Until 2013 she was Artistic Director at LOOP Festival, and she currently teaches as associate professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
