Working primarily with traditional animation techniques and video, Kim Collmer‘s work explores both historical environments and fantastical sceneries often paying tribute to forgotten "futuristic" spaces. In the screening she will present a selection of stop-motion and 2D-animations and videos as well as the premiere of her new film "Conquering Place". After studying with Chris Sullivan and Claire Pentecost at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she moved to Germany (and Cologne) and taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia College, the Universität der Künste Berlin, and the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Collmer exhibits her work internationally, including White Columns, New York, the Arsenal, Berlin, and the Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago.
