Lecture by Alejandro Camargo
Water is rarely just water. It contains and transports all kinds of particles, from microbes and chemicals to decayed plants, animals, and minerals. In fluvial environments, sediments are among the particles that shape (water) landscapes. Sediments migrate, solidify, decay, and accumulate. When sediments come into contact with social life, this develops its own dynamics. They become a force that makes land fertile or destroys it through erosion. This can create or solidify property conflicts. Sediments are living particles in water.
